Meta's $2B AI agent Manus has landed on Telegram. No app install needed — just research, create files, and manage your schedule right from the chat window. And they're expanding to WhatsApp, Line, and Slack within 30 days.
What Is It?
In March 2025, a single demo video hit 200,000 views in 20 hours, earning the label "China's second DeepSeek moment." It was Manus, an AI agent built by a Singapore-registered startup called Butterfly Effect — and it was nothing like a chatbot. Give it a goal and it plans on its own, browses the web, writes code, and produces deliverables as a fully autonomous agent.
The waitlist surpassed 2 million, and within 8 months of launch, it crossed $100M in annual recurring revenue (ARR). In December 2025, Meta acquired it for roughly $2 billion — one of the largest AI M&A deals ever.
Then on February 16, 2026, Manus announced its next move: personal AI agents directly accessible on Telegram. Here's why that matters — until now, using an AI agent meant opening a dedicated web app. Now you can use it right inside a messenger you already have.
Manus's official blog put it this way: "This is not a lightweight chatbot add-on. It’s the full Manus — complete reasoning, tool use, and multi-step execution — just delivered through chat."
What Manus can do
Web browsing & research, code writing & deployment, file creation (PDFs, documents), data analysis, image & video generation, email & calendar integration, voice message comprehension — and up to 20 of these tasks running in parallel.
On Telegram, you can also send voice messages, photos, and documents. The AI converts voice to text, interprets your intent, and gets to work immediately. You can choose between conversation styles (concise/structured/conversational) and switch between Manus 1.6 Lite (fast everyday tasks) and Manus 1.6 Max (deep reasoning).
Privacy has been addressed too. The AI can only see messages you send directly to it — no access to other Telegram chats, groups, or contacts.

Manus co-founder Tao Zhang said they'll support WhatsApp, Line, Slack, and Discord within 30 days of the Telegram launch. Native Windows and Mac desktop apps plus remote PC control are also in the pipeline.
Looking at the competitive landscape, ChatGPT Agent (OpenAI) runs agents within its own interface, while Manus's strategy is bringing AI to where users already are (messengers). The fact that Line is on the expansion list shows they're clearly targeting the Asian market, especially Japan and Korea.

The key point: you can use the Telegram agent on the free plan. Credits are consumed only while the AI is working — simple tasks cost less, heavy tasks like coding or slide creation cost more.
Things to keep in mind
After the Meta acquisition, Manus shut down its China operations, and data now flows through Meta's infrastructure. If privacy is a concern, take note. There are also reports of the AI getting stuck in loops and burning through credits.
